The Tailleur is the counterpart of the men's suit and, in the 1980s, symbolized the professional rampantism of career women. In 1966 Yves Saint Laurent proposed a pantsuit and transformed it into the first women's tuxedo suit, making it eye-catching and extremely sensual. In the following decades to the present, the pantsuit has paraded on dozens of runways, continually reinventing itself in colors, fabrics and cuts, now rigorous, now provocative, worn like a second skin with nothing underneath, as Armani suggested in 1993. The pantsuit thus discovers its dual soul: on the one hand the confident, convention-defying, masculine and provocative at the same time; on the other hand the fairy-tale allure, romantic and elegant.
